Algemene opmerkingen
Voor een optimale absorptie van flucloxacilline moet de patiënt nuchter zijn. Kan dit niet (bijvoorbeeld bij continue sondevoeding) dan is amoxicilline + clavulaanzuur een betere optie.
In de praktijk blijkt dat erysipelas en cellulitis lastig van elkaar te onderscheiden zijn. Beide infecties kunnen met flucloxacilline worden behandeld dat effectief is tegen zowel hemolytische streptokokken als Staphylococcus aureus.
Clindamycine po is een alternatief voor flucloxacilline po (tevens als switchtherapie na initiele intraveneuze therapie).
