cotrimoxazol (trimethoprim + sulfamethoxazol) po 7 days

General comments

  • Indicatie voor systemische behandeling (criteria NHG):
    • bij risico op gecompliceerd beloop (boven lijn mondhoek tot oor, verhoogd risico op endocarditis, een kunstgewricht of verminderde weerstand)
    • niet-genezende furunkel
    • furunkel die gepaard gaat met algemene malaise en koorts
    • furunkel bij een patiënt met influenza of een verminderde weerstand
  • Voor een optimale absorptie van flucloxacilline moet de patiënt nuchter zijn.
  • Adviseer bij recidiverende furunculose:
    • een goede hygiëne
    • preventief twee- tot driemaal per week met zeep of shampoo met chloorhexidine wassen.
    • overweeg MSSA (meticilline-gevoelige S. aureus) dragerschap behandeling bij 3 of meer infecties per jaar en aangetoond neusdragerschap voor S. aureus
