General comments
Langdurige therapie is noodzakelijk om genezing te bewerkstelligen.
Bij gecompliceerde en/of ernstige infecties (endocarditis, meningitis, spondylitis, osteomyelitis) kan er de eerste 7-14 dagen gentamicine aan de therapie worden toegevoegd (dus aanvankelijk behandeling met drie middelen).
Bij levensbedreigende infecties (meningitis, endocarditis) kan het noodzakelijk zijn de therapieduur te verlengen (4-6 maanden).
